Hot hot hot…and that’s enough about me, but what a great race held on Wednesday 5th of July at the Boating Lake Gloucester for the MAD Thrash Round 2 XC-racing series.
Weather was hot and we had a mixture of serious cyclists, fat bikers, single speed bikes, vintage riders, first time racers and people just getting out the house instead of watching Love Island.
Smiles all round as the course was excellently laid out again running ~1 mile in length with total climbing of around 15ft over the mile. Suitable for all ages and abilities.
The adult’s and Juvenile race kicked off at 19:30 for an hour and the male adult race was contested with the top 3 swapping places throughout the race right up to the last lap. Overall winner was Ian Gait who came out on top followed into second place by Matt Jones 39 seconds down and Sean Townsend a further 29 seconds down coming home in 3 place with the top three racers completing 11 laps within the hour of racing.
Female adults race was also a great event contested to the end with Sarah Greber coming home for the win followed by Amanda Dawson 1 min 32 seconds behind and Ro Cole coming home third a further 25 seconds with all top 3 females completing 9 laps within the hour of racing.
Juvenile race only had 2 riders but Jo Childs took first place matching his result in round 1 followed home by James Palser both completing the full hour of racing.
Fat bikes as normal were there in force with Andy Deacon taking top spot in the category completing 11 laps the same as the overall winner and only 1 min 53 seconds behind the overall race winner.
U12’s race was competed with Alex Evans taking the win followed by Miranda Evans in second and an excellent performance from Amelia-May Lowley to take a third.
A huge congratulations to all racers young and old great to see you attend the event and support our goal of encouragement of mountain biking in Gloucester and we hope to see you all at our next race.
